How do I unlink my adoptive parents.

I just signed up a few days ago and started up my adoptive family tree - but realized I should be following my biological family tree.  I just found my birth Mom a few years back.  I also just uploaded my DNA results.

How do I unlink my adoptive parents so I can add my biological parents instead?

P.S. I wish I could have both trees - but sounds like that is not an option at this time.

Hi, Melissa -

There are a couple of different things you can do to document both sets of parents.

First of all, you can add the Adopted Child template to your profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:Adopted_Child

There are some other suggestions on the Adoptions and Multiple Parents help page.

Some of our members who are adopted have also chosen to set up two profiles -- one for their adoptive family, and one for their biological family. I've added the Adoption_Angels and Mentors tags to your post. If you decide to set up two different profiles, the members of those projects will be able to help you do that.

Best of luck with your research!

Thanks for the help.  I did already set up the Adopted Child template - showing both sets of parents. I'll look into setting up two different profiles for them.

Thanks again!

A similar question was asked very recently.  I think it will answer your question.
