I couldnt find this Question asked previously in the G2G  a member ask me this Question about Project Protecting a Profile in the  Scottish clans Project  i wasnt sure of the Answer so  i have copied her Question here I have looked on the Help Pages but this Question is not addressed

 MEMBERS QUESTION

As I will be branching out more onto the side branches I have a
question. Is the PPP status for all merged and tidied clan members or
only the main clan chief line? I know that women marrying into another
clan take membership that clan, do we acknowledge women marrying into a
clan as clan members and give then PPP status once the profile is stable

Good question... Since I didn't know any were profile protected. What criteria is used to determine a profile is project protected?

Hi Terri they should should fit into a current or future  Project and be over 200 yrs old if there are duplicates only the profile with the lowest-numbered  WikiTree ID with the correct Last Name at Birth should be protected. we do PP Profiles in the Scottish Clan Project  if you have any let me know Terry

I think you just answered your own question Terry.  Any profile.  Male or Female.  :)

No lines are protected, only an individual.

Project protection only protects the profile from being merged-away.

We know lines are not PPP Chris i think what the member wanted to know was how do you choose which profiles to protect  is it any profile in a project that is over 200yrs and you have the lowest-numbered WikiTree  ID Terry
Oh, sorry, Terry. Yes, any profile that fits the criteria -- whichare liberal -- can be protected.
sorry Chris i think it was how i ask my Question i will edit it thank you for your answer i can tell the Member Terry

PPP profiles (is tha redundant?) are protected from being merged away.  They are not protected from being merged into, which can have disasterous effects.

Is there some way they can be locked so that only by concensus they can be merged into?  Ditto Edited?

I keep fallinlg back on Wm Brewster, whose wife's maden name is Unknown, Twice in the last month someone has merged Mary Wentworth into  Mary Unknown, despite the disclailmers on both profiles, Marys and Wm's.

These PPPeople are not really protected, as it stands now,

If their Privacy was Public (green) they would need to be unlocked before ANYONE could edit or merge into them.  This could still lbe done, but it would take one more step away from being wide open.

Perhaps a Case by Case agreement by the project personell would be the way to lock them.
