someone rejected my proposed merge but the profiles appear to represent the same person

after comparing two profiles I proposed a merge of Lévesque-839 and Dit_Deschenes-1.  I woke up to an email saying it had been rejected by someone who isn't a PM of either profile.  The reason was "Different dates and locations of death."  Ok.  I took a look at the profiles again and I still believe they represent the same person.  I created an unmerged match.  They both are connected to the same father but were born within weeks of each other.  One is not connected to a mother.  Neither really have much in the way of sources.  Should I just go through them both and do the research and add the sources and then re-propose the merge?  Why was the merge rejected by someone who isn't the PM of either profile?  This is the first time this has happened for me here so I guess I'm just a little confused.

I agree that they are the same person, but I also see the differences cited as reasons for rejecting the merge proposal, although the differences are very slight.  In addition, I see that the birth dates differ slightly.

These differences need to be resolved in order to complete the merge so that the correct birth/death dates/places will be on the resulting profile.  If you know (or can find) the correct information then you can make the corrections and propose the merge again.  After that, there will be no basis for anyone to complain about it!

About your other question - any member can propose a merge, create a match, or reject a merge for any profile(s).  That's part of the collaboration here.

I am doing the research and getting the sources together as I type this.  Another problem I see here is one of the profiles has a dit name as the name at birth instead of it being listed as "other last names"  I see someone else has commented on that fact and requested it be changed but it has not.

Thank you for your help and info :)
I have fixed the dates according to records and added sources for his birth, baptism, 3 marriages and burial and proposed a new merge.  Hope everything goes well.  Thank you.
WOW!  Fabulous job, Melissa.  Don't worry about the LNAB though - at merge time, the LNAB will be selected by the order of the merge.  As long as you put the profile with the correct LNAB as the second one, the one with the incorrect LNAB will be "merged into" the one with the correct LNAB.  Please note that at the time the merge is completed, there is an option to reverse the merge order just in case it's going the wrong way.
Thank you :)

I believe I properly proposed the merge so that it will be merged into Levesque-839 which already has the proper LNAB.  I will be keeping an eye out to be sure.  I also noted it in the comment box for the merge.

I agree with Serge Langlois :

His family name (Last Name at Birth) should be Lévesque, not Miville or dit Deschenes.

Definitely Lévesque-839. In the text section, I placed the links to Church baptismal and Burial records.
