First Métis Families of Quebec. Volume 4: Descendants of Pierre Couc dit Lafleur and Marie Miteouamigoukoue, an Algonquin

The short of it Yes without a doubt

But she would not know that, the use of the word did not come till later

Why would someone downvote this?

I thought Metis waa just French for mixed blood, later becoming what it is now, so she may very well have been called that, or am I mistaken?

No. At the time she would be considered a Half-breed. The Algonquin community would have considered her Algonquin.

She was not Metis...at the time.
