I am new to the WIKI TREE THANK YOU FOR ACCEPTING ME INTO OHHHHHHHH CANADA
Would love to participate! My mother was Canadian, and part of her family was important in the North Bay area in the 1800's.
Hi Angela,

I have added the Canadian history project badge to your profile. Drop me a line and let me know about your particular area(s) of interest.
I am interested in the following: North Bay Ontario: Alexander Dreany & family. Toronto area, Scottish immigrants, esp Sinclair, Lavach, Morrison. Also found some Loyalists way way back from the Revolutionary War. Any Canadian Dodge families.
Hi Angela,

Welcome to the project. You might be interested in checking out our Loyalists sub project at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:United_Empire_Loyalist
Hello! I would like to join the Canadian project. I was invited to join the PEI team. PEI is my main niche of research.
Hello I'd like to join this project. To look into the Canadian lines. I've had an interest in canada for a while and want to put it to use. With support from other more experienced genealogy pros.

Hi Stuart,

Would be happy to sign you up for the Canada Project. Any particular part of the country that interests you, so I can set you up with the right team?

Ontario sounds good for me

I seem to be working on part of Canadian History. Was not certain if I ought to be joining this group or Europe as the immigration was late 1600 to early 1700...I will learn as I go and perhaps find lots of help here?
by Catherine Trewin G2G6 Mach 2 (20.1k points)
Hey Catherine,

You can join both projects. As you work you will be working in both geographical areas so looking at resources and information from both may help AND as you find new source or resources you can add what you find to the resources lists of the project or sub-project,

Glad to have you join us!

Hi Mags and Erin,

I'd like to join the project!

When I started on Wikitree I thought I set myself a small, manageable goal - to trace each branch of my family back to the first person to immigrate to Canada. I thought I'd be done in a month or two. Who'd have guessed? Over 11k contributions later, I'm knee deep in New England Planters and United Empire Loyalists and reading Simeon Perkins Diary for fun.

Its time to fess up and join the project.

I would like the join the Canadian History Project with a focus on the Ontario sub-project.

My key points of interest:
* Immigration of Scottish Clans to Lambton Shores and surrounding area of Lambton County.

* Movement of families from York and Russell areas to Timiskaming in the 1910s.

* Warwick Village families
by Cody Johnson G2G1 (1.4k points)
Welcome, Cody! I'm the project coordinator of the Ontario Project and will ask Mags to give you the Canadian History badge. In the meantime, I'll add your name to our participants list on the Ontario page. Please let me know if you want to set up a free-space page for any of your interest areas. We've set up a few of these already.

Hi! I'd like to join the Canadian History Project, with a focus on British Columbia. I'm a descendant of a British Home Child (landed in the Barnardos Industrial Farm in Russell, Manitoba) on one side of the family. And of a Yorkshire miner-turned-rancher and his First Nations Nlaka'pamux wife (From Lytton, B.C.) in the Minnie Lake/Nicola Valley area on the other.

Thanks!

Hi Mags—

Hah! It would seem that way with my Mom's Canadian side! It's a bit like ticking off the boxes. ;-) Thanks very much for the add to the project, and I look forward to collaborating with others here. — Holly

I would like to join the Canadian History Project. I have ancestors that date back into the early 1700's in Quebec, that have linked to Marie-Hélène Desportes. I am very interested in learning more about my ancestory on this side.

by Janet Sinnett G2G1 (1.8k points)
Hey Janet,

I like to note what your interests are when awarding you the badge - helps me keep track of who is working in what areas. What are you working on please?

Mags
Hi Mags,

Sorry! I'm working on the southern New Brunswick area. These include Loyalists, Irish potato famine and generalized New Brunswick history. My personal tree names that I'm working on are Sinnett, Johnson, Muir, Ogden, Moorehouse, Biddescombe, Clark, Trecartin and Price.

Hope that answered your question fully, but if not, please let me know!

I am interested in the Quebecois project. I have researched the Belanger and Boulanger lines into St. Ignace, Michigan, back to the immigrant ancestor,  There is much confusion between the names and would be interested in making sure those that have been posted are correct. Belanger is a family name, Boulanger is a dit name, in my case for the LeFebvre family from Yamachiche. Thanks!
