Alicia, it seems that you are talking about the list of "Close matches that already exist on WikiTree" you get when adding a person.
E.g.: You have added Joseph Lohr-516 as the father of Michael Lohr-515. But there already was a profile for Joseph Lohr (Joseph Henry Lohr-477).
Here is the page to add or change the father of Michael Lohr-515:
https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Lohr-515&action=editfamily&w=father
If you enter "First Name at Birth:" = Joseph, "Last Name at Birth:" = Lohr and "Birth Date:" = 1792 You´ll see:
" Second, compare close matches that already exist on WikiTree."
And below, a table with the list of possible matches.
The first one is Lohr-516 (The one you added) and the second one is Lohr-477 (The duplicate you found).
When you see a list like this, and there is an existing profile for the person you are adding you have to connect the existing profile instead of creating a new one:
"If any of the following appear to be a match do not proceed to create the new profile. Connect the existing profile instead."
You can connect the existing profile just by clicking on the link [set as (Father in this case)].
"If there is no match above, mark the checkbox by names that are close. This will save a "rejected match" so that others do not confuse the two people in the future."
(Please do not save any changes to this page. It is only for demonstration purposes).
Hope you find useful this information.
