1354 Citation Redirects

Question

This profile has 1,354 Citation Redirects; as I am attempting to clean up this profile after merge, should I delete all of these?  If so, will anything of value be lost?

If someone could look at this profile, it would be most appreciated.

Hi Elizabeth,

I notice that some of that is used in the inline sourcing so if you would remove any of that it would ruin the inline sourcing. What I may suggest is that you contact the Profile Manager and show him the error and hopefully they will take it upon themselves to clean up the sourcing. I not sure I would do anything to that profile without some collaboration with the profile manager.

Hi Elizabeth

Yep there is no real value in all those redirects as they dont go anywhere and and in most cases are references to Ancestry records and not the source documents - I have done a pre-merge clean of the profile - removing all the extra bits and now you can see that its mostly a repeat of the same sources ref x 3  - just go ahead and merge the bio/sources as needed and claim the 811

Elizabeth, the funny thing here is that we're all on the same pay grade - it's just that some of us have been collecting that nothing pay longer and are more used to the mechanisms of what goes on here.  That allows some to answer the questions asked by others, which results in more people being able to answer more questions ... the wheels just keep on grinding turning.

Links appear to be dead end.

If you correct this one, you will also correct 801 Big profile error.

And after you solve the puzzle, you can correct all his 801 errors. it is quite a few of them.

I copy the original bio, sources, etc., into a word processing file, save it as a .pdf, upload it to the profile, open it, copy the URL  and make a note in bold italics  as to what I've done (with a link to the .pdf).  That way all the information is retained and is easily accessible, but is no longer obtrusive.
