Dickson verus Dixon

This is more of an information than a Question. To my knowledge there is no such person as Hezekiah  Dickson!   Hezekiah Dixon  was Married to Naomi Ellis and had a daughter Elizabeth Dixon who Married William Harrison Leeper.  There is an Elizabeth Dickson who married Albert S Leeper. So many people have not verified these two  seperate women and thus so many inacturate listings.   To prove Dixon see Reg # 774 from Warwick,Orange Co, N.Y. Town of Warwick Death certificate for Elizabeth( Dixon) Leeper. Lists Hezekiah Dixon and Naomi (Ellis) as parents.

normally Dickson is Scottish / irish . Dixon is the English equivalent.

in tranent then haddingtonshire now east Lothian normally spelt Dickson, when a new deputy registrar came from England did the registrations for an 18 month period every Dickson was registered as Dixon.
i did not know that! My great-great-grandmother was a Dixon. Her father's will was Dickson but mostly he spelled it Dixon.
