I'm waiting for my first tree to be approved and imported, but in the interim have started a profile for the next generation above on one line that has been my pet project for quite some time.
This is part one of the mystery - Matlock Roberts - he married Zilpha Bane/Blaine or possibly I've also seen her last name as Pendergrass somewhere. Will work on her profile in next few days - as I hold the original photo from 1830 for hers. I can not yet find a marriage record for them and stuck on her line still.
I have placed the notes under him of the additional "clues" that I found - specifically the one in regards to the guardian ship that I am positive for him and his siblings - and assuming now that the reference to Hiram Garrett and wife sally means that Sally was Matlock's sister. I
I am also positive that his father's name was William based on the court records- however since it appears that their guardianship was not handed off to what I can trace as family members that leads me to believe that most immediate family was not in the area or had died around 1828 and that likely both parents died together - or something similar.
I went to the archives and what I need doesn't appear orderable, unless I've missed something. So looking for places that might hold the records, or additional hints (I looked for newspapers as well that might exist for Cumberland County Kentucky at that time and maybe I'm blind)
So thoughts, ideas .. as I'm also interested in why there were so many court cases against his father - has to be a story there somewhere..
Matlock and Zilpha had 14-17 kids most of which I've traced and have about 1500 decendents that are verified/sourced - which I'll start uploading the lines next after my first tree is approved and I've cleaned it up and ensured everything is in there.
