Matthew Mitchell was born about 1589 in Yorkshire.  His parents are presently listed as Thomas Mitchell and Elizabeth Clay - with no reliable source.

I'm particularly suspicious after I saw that the mother of Elizabeth Clay was a Saville.

Elizabeth Clay: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Clay-531

Any guidance, assistance, suggestions?

Anne,

NYGBR article "English Origins of the Mitchell, Wood, Lum and Halstead Families" by Matthew Wood has a "suggestive" genealogy that is 3 generations back from Matthew Mitchell.

I will detach Thomas Mitchell and Elizabeth Clay as parents.

I will note the "suggestive" genealogy in the biography.

Sound good?
