Are you Australian or have Australian family connections? The  Australia Project always needs people to help add to and improve the quality of Australian information on WIkiTree. There are also many sub-projects (eg convicts, cemeteries, Prime ministers, etc). If you haven't already joined, just answer this question below so we connect you to our project.

I'm Australian born. My direct Paternal Walker line hasn't been in Australia very long. My Grandfather Ivor Walker was born in 1930 in Cheltenham England and came to Australia via a army transfer some time in the late '40's early 50's. My maternal line (Rowland ) have been in Australia a lot longer with my 4X Grandfather William Rowland entering Australia from England sometime in the early 1850's as an immigrant/settler. On my mother's direct maternal line My 4X Great Grandmother is Unknown and is widely rumoured and speculated to be possibly a full blood Aboriginal.
I look forward to contributing my Australian data. Its a slow process but I'll get there.

I have both convict and free settlers here in Australia, the earliest being born in Tasmania in 1836. I have no idea where or how her mother came to be there or where she came from. I have however nailed her father who is not listed on her baptism. I also have a great uncle who was sent to WA as a convict. Then a few pioneers, one who was on council for the first Melbourne Suburb (Fitzroy) and many others.

According to the National Archives of Australia there is a record of an Ivor Walker listed

Name: Ivor Walker

Born: 1930

Departed Southampton aboard the ship SS Asturias on 5^th March 1952

Passenger No. 563 Berth No. 1228

Ship arrived Fremantle, Western Australia on 30 March 1952 then arrived

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 4^th April 1952.

Age 21; Occupation Army; Address c/o Central Army Record, Albert Barracks, Melbourne, Victoria.

I emmigrated to Australia in 1965, Married an Australian and my children are all Australian. My wife's family have been here since the early 1800's and I an also reserching them.

HI Paul, just signed up now that I have some time. Looked for an Australian section and delighted to find it. Have Irish and Isle of Man ancestors but I'm 4th gen Australian. I'll need to find my way around here but happy to help when I can.

I am 5th generation Australian Mackey and have been actively researching ancestry for almost 8 years now. The tree is 8500 people strong, most of them personally verified with in-person sources by myself or my uncle, we've travelled the globe to get to the bottom of some of our lines without much luck.

I like to focus on both ancestral and physical place history, as sometimes combining the two can be quite illuminating.

Definitely keen on joining and contributing to this project and will continue to do so probably for the next few decades...

Just saw your post here on G2G, Paul.  After becoming an Australia project member I have been working on my extensive (as well as my wife's and son-in-law's) pioneer Aussie connections.  But what I thought I'd mention that might help others with project ideas is that is that I've created a niche by recording categorising Australia's Army Generals, creating profiles where need be and improving others if I can.  There's 81 currently, but several still need to be connected to the Tree.  If I ever run out of them I will move on to RAN admirals and RAAF air marshals.

Australian born (3 or 4th generation depending on which line) descended from immigrants from England Scotland, Ireland, Germany (so far only one convict).

I've added the badge to your correct profile.  You are right that I added it to Gollan-29 but it doesn't appear on her profile, so I can't delete it,  presumably because she isn't a Wiki genealogist!  I'm surprised it let me add her in the first place!  Never mind, all now fixed!

Hi, I am Australian and have Australian ancestry. Some on my paternal side have been in Aus. since the convict transportation days and settled around Wellington NSW area and others emigrated and settled around the Goulburn NSW area. My maternal side came here around 1918 from England and others came mid 1800 from Bavaria Germany.

I would love to be a considered a member of your group. I found a profile on the error list for William Dunstan VC (Dunstan-344) and am working on attaching his family to the global tree. I'm not much on producing a narrative for people but I can do the research.
My roots are mainly English and Irish including at least one convict so far.

I have Irish, German and Danish ancestors, with possibly some French a bit further back. Most of them came out to Queensland in the 1880s when there was a high demand for settlers. Due to some hard work by a distant family member, one of my German lines (Rackemann) has been traced back to the 1600s. However, the Irish line (Conlon) has hit a brick wall, with my great-grandfather apparently not being born anywhere or emigrating from somewhere. :-)

I’m new to WikiTree, and am busy adding ancestors, and would love to join the Australia project. I have particular interests in German and Irish ancestors.

Hi, I have been involved in family history since the late 1990s but have had a break for a few years am not back in the swing.  I have been able to trace my first ancestors in Australia back to the 1830s and have even been lucky enough to travel to the UK and Ireland to research in libraries and archives in person.  My daughter has 13 convicts in her paternal line going all the way back to the First Fleet.  I'm always interested in contributing to the information available to the genealogy community and have in the past transcribed census returns, ship passenger lists and death/obituary notices. The main family lines I'm currently researching are Carter, Prowse, Hanks and Taylor to mention just a few.

Hi Paul, I started researching my family line of Yuile, Yuille, then found out that there are more spellings of my surname. So I started to research a few other spellings like Yoole, Zuill etc. I also found a great many who were researching from other countries like the USA, Canada and Australia, and Africa where I believe some family members had emigrated too. Like myself who emigrated to South Africa. So if I can be of help I would consider it an honor to help others too.

Hi my paternal family are Australian. Thorpe, WA since 1831 and my paternal grandmothers family, Bickford in SA since 1824 (Bickford Cordials and Chemists) Both families were free settlers. I would love to help other Australian researchers with the interests.
