Does anyone know of a place called Elldafen Osen, Sweden, where my great grandfather Lars Peterson was from?

Could possibly be Älvdalen? Older spelling Elfdalen. The parish is located in Kopparberg county. Osen might be Åsen...

When was Lars Petersson born? If he's born in Älvdalen parish it would be possible to find him in the church books.

Could possibly be Djus Lars Persson/Pettersson, born in Älvdalen 1860, married to Kerstin Olsdotter? He emigrated to North America in 1889, his wife and son Lars left in 1891.
Oh, my goodness, Yes , I think you have it dear lady. Lars had a homestead at Etna,Nebraska, My great grandmother gave birth to a boy that was called Lewis , my great uncle, in 1890. They arrived in 1891 to the farm in Nebraska. Lars was born June 29, 1860 and passed away March 10, 1910. He is buried in Swedish Grove Cemetery along with Christina and several of their children. The boy they called Lewis passed away in Gothenburg,Ne. in 1964 and was buried along side his wife in the Peckham Cemetery. I used his Obituary to get the information that I have. I really thank you so much for this and any help.  Glenna Kasper
Could you link to his profile here on WikiTree? If so, I can add some info about parents and siblings when I have time to check him out a bit more.

Funny thing, I live in Gothenburg, Sweden :-)

Please keep in touch with this old woman who does her shopping and attends church in Gothenburg. I live on a farm where corn and soybeans are raised that is 27 miles north of Gothenburg. I live roughly 15 miles from the homestead Lars farmed. Due to various circumstances I did not know of this part of my family. Anyone who could have helped me with this has long since passed away. Thank you again ever so much for all of your help. E-mail me please. Ever grateful, Glenna
Eva Ekeblad  and Maggie Andersson , you are wonderful. Thank you both.   Glenna
I didn't realize you lived in Gothenburg, too, Maggie!

Small world.
You know, they had more or less a language of their own, up there in Älvdalen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfdalian

Looks like also the father of Kerstin Olsdotter  was over 2 years in Nebraska see Andersson-7358 from the Estate and Inventory it says he died poor in 1916 and his daughter was widow in North America

EDIT: as Eva commented he lived at "Älfdalens fattiggård" and when he died they claimed to get paid for this. After debts 1281 SKR and then my understanding is that "Älfdalens fattiggård"  also get paid...

I guess he kept his 2000 SEK in the savings bank a secret while he lived.

How much money would that be today?

Svar:

==> 76 334 SEK = 9537 $
So not rich, but also not bad.
