How is my grandfather Cecil Rhodes van der Merwe connected to Cecil Rhodes

Question

My grandfather Cecil Rhodes vander Merwe was named after Cecil Rhodes and his father had something to do with Cecil Rhodes , I do not what the relationship was. I think my Grandfather was a relative of Schalk van der Merwe and wish to find his geneology and origin. All I know is that he had a shop in Kimberley and together with his brother a cheese factory at Slabberts in Free State South Africa.
