Barbra porteous Webb was his mother, half sister of my husband many thanks
Ron was just giving you a very nice source for the birth of Barbara Porteous Webb. Not attempting to tell you anything about your sister-in-law.

Have you begun building a tree for your husband? It is much easier to help when we have more information. Basically, any who, what, where, and when information that you know is helpful.
While I don't have any additional details on the descendants of William Webb (b1899), if you message me directly I can get in touch with someone I know that is actively researching the Webb family.

Simon
Robert Porteous and Barbara Porteous nee Brown are my great, great, great grandparents.  They emigrated from Scotland to New Zealand. Their daughter Mary, who was my g,g grandmother stayed in Scotland.  They had a daughter called Barbara Porteous who went to New Zealand with them. She married James Webb in NZ.

Barbara and James had a daughter called Barbara Porteous Webb who was born 18 March 1886 in New Zealand. Barbara Porteous Webb died in New Zealand in 1921/ 22.

Barbara Porteous Webb married Donald McIntosh in 1910 in Oamaru NZ.  As far as I know, they had two sons called Ronald James McIntosh and Archibald Carlyle McIntosh.
Barbara Porteous Webb & James Webb were my grandparents they had eight children in Oamaru NZ. My father William Arthur Webb was the youngest, born in 1899 (died 1978). He was married twice (first wife was Kathleen Willets, they had a daughter names Barbara Webb (born 1922 died 1983 in NZ). His second wife was Gloria Vivian was (my mother). William and Gloria had four children all still living in NZ(William, Clifton Mary & Gayle). My father died in 1978 and his ashes are buried with his mother in Oamaru NZ.

Should you require any further information please don't hesitate to contact me
Hi Clifton

We are for sure related but I can’t work out in my head what we are to each other!

Your gran Barbara is my 3 x great aunt and your father is my 1st cousin 3 times removed. I have a picture of your gran and grandad.

It is lovely to ‘chat’ to someone I am related to! I have pictures of your gran’s sisters and her mum as well as pics of their graves in New Zealand.  I am happy to pass them onto you if you would like them.

Hopefully speak to you soon
Hi Leanne

Thanks for the prompt response, we are in the process of moving house currently, so will email you once we are settled.

Would be nice to get your private email address at some time and yes I would be interested in the pic's if you are able to scan & email them to me

Kind regards

Cliff Webb
Hi Cliff,

You can go to Leanne's profile page and send a private message from there. The email message she receives will contain your email address and you both can communicate directly from there.

If you put your mouse over Leanne Carnan in the message above, a small window displays with some limited information. If you click on her name within that window, it will take you to Leanne's profile page and you can use the "Send a private message" link.

Alternatively just go to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Carnan-10 to get there.
Hey Simon

Thank you for that. I tried to message Cliff myself but I couldn’t quite figure out how to do it. Not sure if I am unable to do it because I am accessing the page via my phone or whether it is just down to be being fairly new to this site and still finding my feet.

Cliff, just drop me a wee message when you are free.

Thank you both

Leanne

Who is Just Me??

Is my name an actual requirement here? I have put a post under my name in reply to Kathleen Willetts in regards to a divorce action in 1957 in the Wellington High Court. I have only recently begun to to look at this side of my family as we had never been told about it. The family Webb is a secondary line I am more interested in the Porteous family butI do like to have a look down all the connectted families.

Raymond Kelman

Sorry I had the wrong date have correctted it to 1957

Hi Raymond, thanks for your response, it is nice to have a name of the person you are communicating with.

Just to clarify, I am the closest living relative to Barbara Porteous due to my fathers age when I was born, Barbara Porteous was the daughter of Robert Porteous & Barbara Brown. She was my grandmother.

Regards

Cliff

Hi Cliff I descend through Janet Porteous who married a Henry Keen. I was worried that I had offended someone and I was quite happy to delete my comments and withdraw from Wiki altogether. I/we because of a fragmented family never knew about the Porteous family as such. A picture that I have names her as a Lady such and such. The only picture I have of her and or her family.

Regards Raymond Kelman

So we are 2nd cousins twice removed

Regards Raymond Kelman
So Raymond, if you can supply your private email address I can send you the complete Porteous Family Tree dating back to Alexander Porteous 1781, which includes the Keen family.

regards

Cliff
Hi Cliff and Raymond,

As you both have WikiTree profiles, as was mentioned above, the better option is to send a private message from the person's profile page. This will send a message to the individual without popping email addresses into a thread that others can see.

Cheers,

Simon
Hi Cliff much appreciatted my address is

Raymond Kelman, 22A Elzy St, 7201, Blenheim. Please let me know if there is a cost at all please.

Regards Raymond Kelman
Hey Raymond

My 2 x great grandmother, Mary Porteous was the sister of your Janet.  Cliff and I have had a few discussions about the Porteous family. I sent him over all the info I have on the Porteous family including the family tree he mentions. I have some photos of Janet, her mother and Janet’s siblings.

My 2 x great grandmother remained in Scotland when her parents and some siblings emigrated to New Zealand.

Give me a shout if you need anything further info.

Leanne
Hi Simon so being new at this how do I go about doing this?

Regards Raymond Kelman
Hi Leanne nice to hear from you. I presume from your email that you may still reside in Scotland. I have the one picture of Janet. Which I have yet to put up on my wall. Anything you can spare is gratefully acceptted. I was in Scotland in 2006  and at that time I was did not know anything regards the Porteous apart from the fact one was my grandmother's mother nothing more. Glasgow asa cityif that is where you reside I loved it. One memorable event that occurred in connection with Glascow was anoldfried of mine asked to me too look up a headstone for him of a family member who had died in a fall in a Glascow shipyard. When i asked about a bus to the suburb where it was located I got a lot of funny looks and why do you want to go there for. When I explained in regards in the headstone I was told go home and forget about it boyo. Finally boarding the bus I asked to be dropped at the nearset stop the cemetery I wished to visit. Again asked by the driver what the hell do you want to go there? hell even a lot a the people who live there do not want to go there. A lady behind along with the driveradvised getting off the bus  but I presistted and the young lady  made me sit with her and told me why I was gtting the looks and questions. We arrived at the stop right outside her place when about 8 young guys turned up enmasse totally surrounding us. The young lady told them I was to be shown to the cemetery and if they could help me out and then too return me safely for the next bus and no swinging on his wallet. The headstone when found was unreadable and yes they did help in everywhere possible wanting to know where I was from what did I do etc and returned me intact to the bus stop. And yes I did tip them and at first they refused it but with some insistance they took saying it were not necessary. You have to love Glasgow. St Catherine s of Kentigan or something similar

Warmest Regards Raymond Kelman
Hi Raymond,

I suspect that you are posting without having logged in as when I put my mouse over your name I am only seeing your IP address and not your profile.

You may notice that my name at the end of "commented .. minutes ago by Simon Canning" is underlined and if you hover your mouse over that it shows my profile details. By clicking on the name in that small window pops you onto my page and from there you have the option to send a private message.

Leanne's latest comment indicates that she wasn't logged in as the profile doesn't show. If you click this https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Carnan-10 it will take you to Leanne's page and you can use the private message function from there.

hello Cliff today is only the second time I have looked at this site. I am 1st cousin to Raymond Kelman,  our mothers were sisters. I am also looking into our family history but it can be rather confusing. I would like to exchange any and all information if you wish. The first correspondence always the most awkward I find. Please correct me if I am wrong but I have Alexander Porteous (no dates) then in direct line of family his son Thomas (1790 - 1849) then George Robert (1820 - 1884). Regards Mike Sulliman
