    American Civil War Soldiers Record: John T Blackstone.  Columbia County, Georgia.  Enlisted 11 May 1861.  Distinguished Service in Confederacy.  Georgia.  Units 339.  Enlisted as a Private in Company F, 10th Infantry Regiment Georgia.  Detailed on 15 Jan 1862 at Williamsburg, Virginia (in hospital dept; no further record)

     

    UDC  Carol has John T. Blackstone as a Supplemental.  Co. F, 10th Infantry, Georgia C.S.A.  Admitted 15 Mar 1994.

     

    Civil War Records: Footnote.  John T Blackstone.

         Pg. 1.   John T Blackston, Co “F”, 10th Georgia Infantry.  Confederate.  Private.

         Pg. 2.  6 Feb 1915.  Respectfully returned to the Commisioner of Pensions, State of Georgia, Atlanta.  The records show that John T Blackstone, private, Co F, 10th Georgia Infantry, CSA, enlisted on 11 May 1861.  On a roll of the company for the period ended 30 Jun 1861, only roll on which borne, he was reported sick in quarters.  A return for January, 1862, shows him absent on detached service in hospital department, Williamsburg.  No later record found.  HJ McCain, the Adjutant General.

         Pg. 3.  Company Muster Roll for 11 May to 30 Jun 1861.  Enlisted 11 May 1861, Thomson, Columbus Co, Georgia.  By Capt William Johnston, for the war.  Remarks: Sick in quarters.  Joined company at Richmond, Virginia 7 Jun 1861 from Thomson, Georgia.  *Name appears in column of names present cancelled.

         Pg. 4.  Regimental Return for month of Oct 1861.  Sick in Hospital Williamsburg, Virginia.

         Pg. 5.  Regimental Return for month of Oct 1861.  Accounted for by Nurse Williamsburg Hospital, Williamsburg, Virginia.

         Pg, 6.  Regimental Return for Nov 1861.  Accounted for by Nurse in Williamsburg Hospital.       

         Pg. 7.  Regimental Return for Dec 1861.  Accounted for by nurse in Hospital in Williamsburg.

         Pg. 8.  Company Return for Jan 1862.  Accounted for: on extra duty in Hospital at Williamsburg.  (I believe he was a nurse at the hospital! JLC)

         Pg. 9.  Regimental Return for Jan 1862.  On detached service Hospital Dept. Williamsburg.

         Pg 10.  Register of Officers and Soldiers of the Army of the Confederate States who were killed in battle, or who died of wounds or disease.  Died 17 Apr 1862.  Williamsburg, Virginia.  Received 12 Feb 1863.  Certificate #246.

Thanks for this information, Was this John T Blackstone married with children?
Never married. Took a fever, probably typhoid, suffered for three months and died April 17 1862 in Williamsburg VA
Eddie old note says never married and I added these children, I may find another father for these children.

Eddie I’m not sure this John Blackstone and John Blackston-168 are the same person
