My grandmother Lillie Belle Swisher was taken or adoped from an orphanage in Gallipolis County, Ohio in somewhere around 1898 and taken across the river to the Point Pleasant W., Va. area where she grew up, married Eddie Orman Stewart and lived the rest of her life. Other than she was born April 12, 1896 I have no other information on where she was born or who her parents were. Is there anyway of finding out this information? I'm at a dead end. Thanks.

Thanks Frank! The first two were direct hits and the last two were near misses but not her.

Gallipolis is a villiage in Gallia county. Point Pleasant is across the bridge over the Ohio River from Gallipolis.

You could try posting an inquiry at      http://genforum.genealogy.com/oh/gallia/

A Google search of       Gallia county ohio genealogy     might be useful.

Another possibility would be to to a search of

how to find Gallia County, Ohio birth parents from 1880 to 1899

Not sure if there is any connection with Lilly Belle, but I found the similarities interesting:

Nancy Swisher 1910 Census

Also living with an unrelated family in the same town, a year older, and born in Ohio.

Very interesting, same jobs, same education, same Ohio birth and Ohio born parents ... possibly her sister?

Thanks Phillip,

That was my thought! Of course more research is needed, but I thought it might possibly be a crack in the bricks. Good Luck!
