The Colorado Project

Do you have any research interests in what is now the state of Colorado? The Colorado project, a sub-project of the United States History Project, focuses on creating and improving profiles for anyone who lived in the Colorado Territory or the State of Colorado. There is a suggested list of other ways you can help on the project page.

If you would like to join us, please comment or answer Yes! to this post, and I will ensure you're awarded the U.S. History project badge (which you can see here).  Additionally, add us_history and Colorado to your list of followed tags so that you'll see our discussions in your G2G Feed.

If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to contact me by posting on my profile page or via private message (the link for that can be found on my profile page, too).

Thank you, and I look forward to working with you on profiles related to Colorful Colorado!

Update: Mary Richardson is now the Coordinator for the Colorado Project, and the current procedure for requesting the US History badge is to post an ANSWER on

My Family Anderson, Starts in Trinidad, Colorado with the birth of my Grandfather.  From there he was place in the ColoradoHome for Dependent and Neglected Children.  He escaped/Left/Hired from the home and ended up in what is now Holyoke, Phillips, Colorado.

Also my Girlfriend and   II are researching her family tree which centers around Lawerence, now Saguache, Saguache Colorado.  We have traced the story of her family a Saguache was built and then became a county of Colorado.  This small town of 500 is very unique in that everyone is related to evertone and can give you heaaches and nighmaaaaaaaresjust studying the Surnames found here.

Today we live in Pueblo Colorado and being disabled I find myself with a fair amount of free time.  So I spend a lot of time in the Librarys Genealogy Department which is very extensive.

II am much interested in joining as there is 1 Anderson brickwall for me  and many confusing issues with my Girlfriends family.. Also we are planning a trip this summer back to Saguache.  Gravestone pics in the Cemetaries and a Memorial     Wall for Veterans from Saguache.  Photos and recording the names found thier.
Hi, John! Glad to have you here as a collaborator in the US History Project and its component project, the Colorado Project.
Hi John and Ellen,

I think you might want to post your name on the Project Page as willing to research at least the Pueblo area.

There is another lady,  J Crook who writes about Veterans Grave in the area of Pitkin County and Pitkin County..

I think we all have been to Pueblo to shop!.

My family has a long history in the northern part of Colorado around Walden in Jackson County. They were inducted as members of the Pioneers in the town a few years ago. I would love to be part of this project as I continue to develop their profiles and file in the information I have about their contributions to the history of the state.

My Thomson family was instrumental in building and operating the Colorado railroads during the late 1800s and early 1900s. I am interested in joining this project, too.
