New and stuck on my own profile!

Question

Hi. I joined WikiTree a couple of days ago and have started adding my ancestors. I have been researching my family tree for over 20 years but I was no so good at recording sources when I started :(

Anyway, a silly question to start with. I'm really not sure what to say about myself in my profile/biography. What sort of things do people say about themselves without boring the pants off others?

Welcome to WikiTree! People add very different kinds of stuff. One thing that is interesting to other wikitreers is your research interests, plans and goals. For example :)

Say as much or as little as you want. Ideas: what sparked your interest in genealogy, what (if any) projects you plan to work on on wikitree, and why, and other things that interest you, whether or not they are related to genealogy. You might want to list your relationship, if any, to notable people, and some people have lists of who they are related to on wikitree.

You can write a complete autobiography or write nothing at all.  Since I don't plan to ever write a complete biography, I change my profile every few months.  It is currently quite minimalist, although I include links to various projects.  If you go to the gallery of members from the main Wikitree page (link is here:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Members, you can see examples of what other active members have done.  For a complete autobiography example, you can look at Keith Hathaway's profile.  For a minimalist example, you can look at mine.

Welcome to wikkitree Graham, it can be difficult to be new but there are many wonderful wikkitreer to help out.

Say what you feel you like to share you can always change it on your profile.

No one will get boring about what you write about yourself just go for it

Thanks everyone for the welcome and suggestions. They have all been helpful. I have made a start now. It is probably longer than I had originally thought and it will only get longer!

Graham I just leaver it most blank and make people ask what they want to know, that way I don't piss people off.
