I, too was a mariner. I sailed deep sea for four years and got to see lots of places. I was also active duty and Reserve Navy.
There are so many articles on the Nowlands in the Waterways Journal. Would love to have copies of them. Somewhere I've got a list of them all! The Nowlands were amazing people. The good captain's son Eugene was a violinist, a silent movie director, and had an extraordinary photo collection! His sister, Lucille, was an organist and a pianist. She married Alfred Semnacher of the "Fatty" Arbuckle fame. Quite the collection of people!
