Can someone merge pre-1500's Ancetre-27 into Ancetre-19? [closed]

Edited to say: Disregard. I just notice there are birth and death dates on file (although no sources).

I have been adopting empty and orphaned "ancetre" files from their child or spouse, double-checking them and unlinking them and merging them into Ancetre-19 to delete them. This particular one, Ancetre 27, is a pre-1500s file. Could someone please do the merge so as to delete this empty file? I have adopted it for the purpose of the merge, but can release it if required.

I understand your concern, but "Ancetre" simply means "ancestor" in French. The profiles are empty, and stating that, for example, my gggggggrandmother's father was "unknown ancestor" doesn't add anything. I am not touching those "Ancetre" files that do have info, even if it is just an estimated birth date.

I know it's not kosher, but I tend to agree with Denise. These "Ancetre" profiles are just placeholders to make a branch go one generation further by adding an ancestor (literally) one knows nothing about.

They are only useful when 2 people are known to be siblings but their parents' names are not known.

What's more, they often seem to be the result of imports of a French program, and people orphan them (presumably because they don't know what else to do with them!) Again, I'm not touching those that are not orphaned, or those that do have info (e.g. a birth date), even if it isn't sourced...

Denise- like Isabelle I agree with your approach now that I understand what those profiles were.   That said, having this discussion before making the changes might have been a better approach.

Agreed. Some things seem like obvious fixes to me (I've been at this on and off for over 30 years, after all), and I'm learning to pause and check G2G before going ahead (which I did).

That being said, I still need someone to merge these the pre-1500s profile.
