anonymous, you need to provide at least the information that you have for others to assist you.  If you provide LESS than all that you know, then you should expect us to have LESS success than you have had.

Do you mean Islington in London, England ?

Irene M Bettesworth born Lambeth 1931. Mother's maiden name Mould. Father Alfred E Bettesworth.

Doesn't seem to fit your info..

Everything you wrote is accurate and does fit... But only when you know more about Queenie's life.  I'll discuss with my long lost relative when anonymous gets in touch.
Your answer got me intrigued so I looked further. I see Queenie remarriied in 1933.

Anonymous' info. seems to be a mix of the two marriages :-)
That's right.  Irene was born a year before Alfred died.  Now to wait for anonymous to reply to me.

Anonymous - I know quite a lot about Queenie Land and Irene Marion Bettesworth.  Sounds like we may be related.  Please email me or send me a private message.

You may be interested in this Australian immigration record.  Go to http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/ and type in "Irene Marion Bettesworth".  The 2nd record is very relevant as she flew on KLM and her husband had a dutch surname.  I assume you are Peter, Michael or Andew.
