English death certificates are not available online. You can order a copy from the GRO https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp It will cost GBP 9.25 plus postage outside the UK. The cause of death is typically a word or phrase. It is easiest if you search their index and press the order button. The reference is Burnley 1896 QJ volume 8E page 151.

I have also found a newspaper article http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000154/18960606/048/0003 which describes a William Clegg of Burnley committing suicide on 4th June 1896 by kneeling on a train track so he was decapitated. This newpaper site is payable, but you can read three articles for free I think.
