The family of Albert Cook

Hey!

I'm stepping out of my usual genealogical research today to help a good friend of mine. She doesn't have a tree here (yet) or anywhere else and has asked me to ask around for her.  She's trying to find information on her great, great grandfather Albert Cook, born May 1st 1883.

She says he was likely born in or around Grant, Indiana. He died March 20th, 1960 in Woodson, Kansas. He was married to a woman named Mary Francis Dillion who was born May 10th, 1887 in Dighton, Kansas. She died November 4th, 1975 in Kansas.  She can't find any information on Albert's parents or siblings. She did find him on Find a Grave. I also may have found him in a couple censuses. But, I'm not sure. She found his WWI draft card. She doesn't have anything beyond Mary's parents.

I'm hoping someone here can help me  help my friend out. Not sure what else I can do. I've looked in the censuses. I told her to register. Perhaps someone can help me help her? Thanks!

This is fantastic! Sending her a link. Do you think we can find them in the censuses?
Looked for his parents but did not find them.
Yeah. That's weird. I mean...I dunno if you remember the hard time I had with Elizabeth Fellows being born Deborah. But, this is bizarre. He couldn't have just popped out of the aether. She says he was born in Indiana. I looked and found what I thought was Albert. Turns out it wasn't.
In the 1910 census they had a son, Clinton, who was very young. See answer above for details.
She is gonna be very happy! Thanks! Now we need to find Clinton and how he connects to everyone. I would have her make a tree on FS. But, I think here or geni may be the best bets.

I found an Albert Cook, son of George and Sarah in Switzerland County, Indiana.  This Albert also has a WWI Draft Reg. from Switzerland County and his birthday is 1 May 1883.

The 1900 census spells his name "Albern" and his mother "Serra".

Hmm. I think this might be him! Got a link?
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M997-YM4

According to this census, Sarah is his second wife.  I'm still looking for his first wife.  Siblings are:  Charles and Walter.  Parents of George are Theodore Cook of Germany and Eadelia of France.  His first wife is either Alma Platt or Jane Eckles.  I'm looking into that right now.
I wonder if he and Mary got divorced because she died long after he did.
I mean George's first wife.  If I can nail Albert's mother, I should be able to find a birth certificate.
Okay. =) I haven't had much luck on that front. Maybe you will.
I found that Albert and wife Mary were back in Posey, Switzerland, Indiana for the 1920 Census.  George died in 1928 so, perhaps, they were there caring for his father.

Perhaps.  Finding Albert's parents is a goal of my friend, Angela's. It looks like we are getting closer.
Here's what I got:

George A., son of Theodore and Eadelia Cook, married Alma Eliza Platt, daughter of Ralph and Polly Platt, on 19 Feb 1881.  They had 3 sons, Charles Edward, Albert, and Walter.  She died before 1894 and George remarried to Leah Retta.  All this took place in Switzerland, Indiana. Son Charles married in Shelby, Indiana, son Albert married in Kansas, and son Walter married in Campbell, Kentucky

This is awesome. Thanks! Someone on geni said the parents are William P. Cook (1855–1925) and Elizabeth Ellen Sharp (1860–1924) according to some tree at Ancestry.

I can't access that tree. Paywall even though I am a member.

Paternal Grandparents also.
