Registration is open for the Source-a-Thon! 

It will be going for 72 hours straight, September 30 - October 2, to kick off Family History Month. We're including Monday so that those who are busy on the weekend can still participate.

I would like to participate in the source-a-thon. I work a lot, and my internet service is poor, so I may not get a lot done, but it sounds like fun, and it sounds like I may learn something. I would like to join the midwest Tornadoes group.

Ack - Phillip... I was just looking at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Source-a-Thon to see when the deadline was to add {{Unsourced}} to a profile & saw that I gave you bad info - from that page:

Participating means removing profiles from the Unsourced Profiles category. They cannot be profiles that you created. [emphasis added]

So.... If you created the unsourced profile of your relative, you can't get credit for sourcing it during the Source-a-Thon. Just make sure to tag it as {{Unsourced}} before the Source-a-Thon - I never did find a cut-off date for that, but shoot for before Sept. 24 to be safe. AND... if you add a location or two, that will increase the chances that the profile will be found & sourced during the Source-a-Thon. For instance, {{Unsourced|Virginia|Tennessee}} will put a profile in Unsourced Profiles category for both Virginia & Tennessee. I know Team Virginia will be working from Category:Virginia Unsourced Profiles & I suspect the same to be true for Team Tennessee.

Hi Phillip! I've been asking about that rule (they cannot be profiles you created) and received clarification this morning. You CAN source/count profiles you created... what you cannot do is create profiles, then source them & count them. The rule is to discourage people from creating new profiles just to pad their "sourced profiles" number.

All you need to do is create a space page for the team, put it in the Challenges Teams category and a brief description, then if you watch the sign up posts, a bit you can "recruit" some team members. Aleš can set up lists of unsourced profiles for you, if you give him criteria. And, most importantly, put your team on the Source-a-Thon Teams page :-)
