Why do you think Hugh and Sarah Mackey brother & sister left Donegal and came to NZ in 1841.

Were they farmers? if so I'd say it's possibly because the tenant farmers in ireland had a bad deal during that time and probably thought NZ offered a better chance.

Thankyou They were farmers and had one older brother James who would have inherited it. It was poor land and so not very productive
