Looking for birth info on Sarah Maud Wilkins born 1919

Sarah Maud Wilkins is my maternal grandmother. She left the family when her children were young and was mostly estranged from the family for the rest of her life. I cannot find any information about her birth but I know from her marriage certificate that she was born in 1919 and her father was William Wilkins. At that time, they were living in the Poole, Dorset area. Would appreciate any assistance -- would love to find out who my grandmother was :-)

Your information is somewhat simular to my family. My grandfather was William F. Wilkins, he married Martha Eva Ramsey. They had about 8 children, ones name was Maud/maude Wilkins yet she was born Naomi/nahoma maud/maude wilkins born September 1894 in Kansas, USA, died August 21, 1974 in Los Angeles County, CALIFORNIA, USA. Hope you find what you need. I did come across another Nahoma Maud Wikkins born in England. I just did a google search on the name and the two of them poped up. Again, good luck. Pat.

anonymous, its very common for people to refer to themselves using variations of their forenames that they prefer the sound of, so not surprisingly there is no birth registration in England between 1910 and 1925 of a Sarah Maud Wilkins.

However, there are four that have M and S initials within that period so hope is not lost...

WILKINS Jessie M S England Hampshire, Winchester 1911

WILKINS Kathleen S M England Wiltshire, Melksham 1912
WILKINS Clara S M England Somerset, Frome 1918
WILKINS Eileen M S England Gloucestershire, Dursley 1918

If you have information about alternative names or details of her mother it may be possible to differentiate her birth - also there may be other clues on the marriage certificate such as a relative who was a witness or if she was not a spinster at the time of marriage (in which case we need to look for her prior marriage).

I saw your request for help on a Genes Reunited forum via a google search which provided more info.
In case you don't already have them the certificate references are below so you can get them from the GRO..

Your mum's birth:
Name: MOSS, Sally M
Registration district: Bournemouth
County: Dorset
Year of registration: 1940
Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Mother's maiden name: Wilkins
Volume no: 2B
Page no: 1823

Your mum's parent's marriage:
Groom: MOSS, Percy S
Bride: WILKINS, Sarah M
Registration district: Bournemouth
County: Dorset
Year of registration: 1937
Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Moss
Volume no: 2B
Page no: 2139

Your maternal grandfather's birth:
Name: MOSS, Percy S
Registration district: Christchurch
County: Hampshire
Year of registration: 1915
Quarter of registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Mother's maiden name: Chapple
Volume no: 2B
Page no: 1049

There is a possible maternal grandmother's birth record in London.
If she was much older than your grandad and lied about her age at the marriage - which was very common back then...
Name: WILKINS, Sarah Maud
Registration district: St. Olave Bermondsey
County: London
Year of registration: 1903
Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Mother's maiden name: Not available before 1911 Q3
Volume no: 1D
Page no: 208
However, checking the 1911 census this girl is at home in 8, Silwood Street, Bermondsey with her father Christian Wilkins (so maybe not).

Thanks for trying to help. I have all the records from the GRO that you mention - those documents allowed me to confirm her name, her claimed age at marriage to my grandfather, and her father's name. Unfortunately, with no birth place or mother's name and with a father's name of William Wilkins, I don't have much to go on (William Wilkins is a very common name).
I do appreciate your time and I thank you for your assistance :-)
