Parentage mystery for Earl Washburn [closed]

Brick wall? Dead end? Unsolved mystery?

I can't find any confirmed sources for my GGF's (Washburn-3211) parents. I'm a new kid in the WikiTree community (and therefore exceptionally new to the collaboration process in genealogy), but I put a Family Mystery page together with every shred of evidence I could piece together.

If there are any Washburns out there who have info that ties in, I'd love some help. Or any genealogy geniuses who can see something I can't... ;)

He was a Staff Sergeant in the U S Marine Corps. You might find something by inquiring for his military records. They would list his parents.

Since there information marked private it difficult to gather some of the pieces to help produce a dialog. Is this the same Earl Washburn who would have been married to a Alma (possibly 1st marriage) and a Minnie (possibly second marriage)

He was married to Alma Seago (my ggm), but I don't have any information on a second marriage.
Instead of putting "direct knowledge" on his daughter's profile instead of sources such as the 1930 and 1940 census and only putting the title of a social security possible source on his profile instead of the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940 census will cause this problem.  Add those things and the information you seek is likely to surface.
Basically speaking lets source the information we do know so there is a clearer picture when searching for parents.

Vincent and Steve: I've been working on getting my source info copied over. It's now on his daughter's profile, and I've copied Earl's source info from the mystery page to his profile page as well. :)

I'm confident of his first marriage to Alma, and have now found info regarding his second marriage to Minnie as well. So we're pretty solid on dates, residence locations, etc. I need to look into requesting his military records -- can anyone point me in the best direction for obtaining those?

            Breaking news!!!!

I've obtained his obituary, and it lists "Laurs and Dorothea Nelson" as his parents. Do we assume he was adopted then? At this point do I just hope that when my DNA comes back that I have a little link to a Washburn somewhere?

I've added the obituary to the mystery page.
