How old is Quill

It looks like Quill in this mortality schedule is one month old.  The 1983 Quill family photo has 'Brendan' (left front), but no Brendan is found in the 1900 census.

The 1900 census lists Katherine as the mother of 9 children with 9 living. That could, of course, be in error, but is it possible that Thomas was the child of someone else?

You also have 12 children attached to Michael and Katherine. 1910 still lists her as the mother of 9 with 9 living.

The mortality schedule says the child was a 1-month-old unnamed male whose parents were born in Nevada. So I don't believe this is a child of Michael and Katherine.
Charles, son, showed up on the 1930 census - I haven't found where he came from?  Also, why is Rose born in California (1900 census), everyone else was born in Nevada.
There were two other male Quills living in Virginia City in 1870. In 1880 at least one had died leaving a widow and two small children. It is possible that they are the parents of the child who died in Oct 1879 (mortality schedules are for the year preceding the taking of the census, so a child who died in Oct would have died in 1879, not 1880). What evidence is there that a child named Thomas Brendan existed?

I'm finding it very hard to believe that it took thirty years for anyone to notice there was an extra child floating about. ;-p Charles is probably a nephew. Given both of his parents were born in PA, I'm going to guess he may actually be an Egan. You'd have to do a little digging to try to locate him prior to that census.
Re: Thomas Brendan is named in the Quill family photo, front row left.  Family lore has it that he was born 1880, died 1887. He is not on the 1880 or 1900 census. No sources found.
