Connecting the unconnected [closed]

I'm trying to connect my unconnected family and when I look at the list there are a few on the list that say they already have connections. A few of them even say they have 22 connections! Why are they on this list if they have connections? How do I clear my list if this is happening?
closed with the note: This is an old question. There's good info here, but no value in having people add more new answers.

Hello, Lisa!

When a profile is listed as unconnected, that means it is not connected to the main tree. The profile can still have family connections, but those would also be unconnected profiles as relating to the main tree.

To connect a profile to the main tree, you need to connect that profile to another profile that is connected to the main tree.

You may need to add additional ancestors, descendants, or other relationships, such as siblings or spouses, to reach a currently connected profile.

They have connections to other people, spouses, parents, children, siblings, etc., but they are not connected to the big tree. You must build the family until you can connect to a profile that is already connected to the big tree.

You will know a profile is connected when you see something like this at the bottom of the page.

Deb is 21 degrees from Kevin Bacon24 degrees from Dorothy Barry19 degrees from Elizabeth Ann Seton and 23 degrees from Queen Elizabeth II Windsor on our single family tree. Check your connections or find your genealogical relationship with Deb.

This makes sense! I am connected to the big tree, however, some of the people on the list are direct relatives, is there a disconnect somewhere along the line? How do I figure this out for these people? Even if they aren't blood they're related to me by marriage, shouldn't they be connected to the big tree?

ETA: For example Bruzek-8 has a son that is connected to the big tree.  Frantisek is my 3 times great grandfather.

I had a look at Bruzek-8 and his son Bruzek-17 and while the son is connected, the father is not.

BUT I also see that both profiles were modified today. So if you just finally linked them up (as father and son) today then the connection should go through tonight and Bruzek-8 should show up as connected to the Global tree tomorrow.

Getting all the new connections right is a huge job for the computers to deal with, and this gets done once a day - usually overnight for those us who live in North America.

So dont panic for now. Definitely wait until tomorrow and see if that connection shows up. If it doesn't then you can panic!!  LOL  But I'm pretty sure that the connection will show up.

As Robynne states, some changes take time to propagate through the tree.

As Robynne also states, don't panic!!
You will be pleased to know that as of 0600 this morning (ie the next day) your ancestor Frantisek Bruzek HAS BEEN connected!!!!
i have a list of unconnected a few are on wikitree and have not responded for months

The Merediths i have are from my partners father's adopted side as i linked his father to his biological parents when i first started

Any advise or help with this would be great
Stephanie

I am unable to verify anything as you have made your partners private, so I cannot see their profiles at all.

Also I would suggest that you ask this as a NEW question stating that you are having trouble getting these people connected - and change their privacy level to a public one so we can all see them.

Thanks.
Thank you Robynne i shall start a new thread now

There is an Unconnected: FAQ page to help answer questions like this.

And it will (hopefully) be more recent than the original question, which was asked in 2017...
Yup. I'm trying to catch all the old threads on this subject.
