Why is this category misnamed?

Why is the category "Dukes of Värmland" a misnamed category?https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Dukes_of_Värmland

There are other categories just like it, Dukes of Västmanland, Dukes of Kronoberg, Dukes of Kalmar etc so why not Dukes of Värmland?? https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Duchies_in_Sweden

Or are they all misnamed?

It was marked as misnamed by Philip Smith back in 2015. If you think the name is valid, and this is not a duplicate of another category, it probably would be OK to remove the "misnamed" statements -- and recategorize it under Duchies in Sweden.

Possibly it was simply empty at the time. As I recall, the project did that for a whole slew of empty categories, just for simplicity.

I restored some when I found them useful and had relevant pages to add for them.

Typically if it is really misnamed, it should show a link to the correct category. I think that is the protocol.
Thanks for providing that perspective, Steven. I know there are a lot of "misnamed categories" that don't identify a correct category; that seems like "bad form."
Thanks for your answers, then I will remove it from the misnamed category and link it to the parent category.

Category Misnamed categories are being canceled. I already cleared that category from 18000 to a few hundred. The categories remaining there need to be reviewed manually by people who have necessary local or project knowledge.

Now if incorrect category is found, it should be deleted and profiles moved to correct one.

Hello Aleš,

How should a category be removed?

Short instruction is:

If category is empty, put {{Delete Category}} on it.

If it's not empty, put {{Rename Category|NewCategoryName}} on it.

Basic help is here:

And here is a bit more details.

Thanks Aleš
