Don Baylor Genealogy

Question

So I took on a new Notable over a month ago - Baseball Player and Manager, Donald Baylor, who grew up and passed away in Texas. He passed away August 7 and my thought was to get him connected to the global tree. WOW.

Well, his heritage from being the descendant of slave families has me going around and around in many loops now, and I'm still plugging away with no end in site. If anyone wants to help, I'd love some additional hands out there trying to enter these families. I stumble across an occasional orphan profile, also not connected to the tree, and try to scoop it up and add it to the bigger picture, but I've probably entered 150-175 profiles without a single connection to the global tree.

And that's just the beginning. I have not run out of resources yet to continue adding, so there just seems to be an endless supply of unconnected families to research and add to this little "unconnected" tree of mine. So if anyone wants a project and can help out, please take a look. Thank you!

Thanks! The categorization hierarchy changed in January 2021. Unlike profiles, category pages can be deleted, which is what happened to the category I had given the link for in 2017.

I'll be honest, here is where I hit the most profiles and have bogged down with so many potential next steps. It's taking time to go up and down each of the potential paths and see where the next one leads (if anywhere) for a possible connection.

Scott, it looks like Don's cousin married a Miss Kramer who ties into a whole bunch of Alsatian families who were colonists of Castroville, Medina County, Texas, about 20 miles west of San Antonio. So the chain I connected has a living couple. Maybe I'll have to recruit them. : )

That would be wonderful, Karen! I've noticed that the majority of the families I'm encountering have been around the Austin,Texas area, but as I get a bit further away from the core group, I'm finding a few here and there that travelled. I was hopeful when I hit a strand that most of the family passed away in California, but haven't found any solid connections out of that group either.
