Appears to be wrong last name at birth?

Question

I just adopted the orphan profile of Lucreata (Lucretia?) Carr Pennington. I am trying to understand why the creator of the profile gave her LNAB as Carr. The record of her birth, which I just added, shows her name at birth as Lucretia Flanagan. I think I need to change this, does anyone want to check my evidence? How do I change an ID? Thanks!

I agree it needs to be changed. Open the edit tab and got to the LNAB. There will be a link to edit.

It looks like the profile creator made a simple error and gave her her mother's maiden name instead of her father's name.

This is something you have to keep an eye on when creating profiles. I almost made a similar error because I didn't have the mother's current last name as her married name and I added a child from her profile. It auto-generated the LNAB as the mother's maiden name.

Thanks Deb, for the affirmation and also the explanation on how to edit. I really want to be sure I don't mess anything up! Most everything is changeable, but the LNAB seems more sacrosanct.

Looks to be a fairly simple error on the part of the original profile creator (or just carried over from another genealogy.)

I haven't checked in depth, but a conversation in Find a Grave asserts that "John Pennington married Winnifred Thompson and had son Nathaniel Pennington who married Susan Carr.

Nathaniel Pennington and Susan Carr had
Nathaniel Jason Pennington who married Lucretia Flanagan."

Sometimes when doing research on an individual, when trying to get all the info from a source transferred to the working document, info gets put into the wrong space.  I am sure that your info is correct.  I no longer have the original document so I can not cross check.
