Source-a-Thon tables by country

I prepared first tables of unsourced profiles by countries.

It still needs some changes, but that mainly what you will have.

Leaders, You can copy the template usage {{:DBE_UnsourcedList_NZL}} for needed countries on your team page. I will update the pages on monday, but that will update automatically if you use template.

Excellent.!
Instant errors for western states--saying someone was born or died during a year when the state didn't even exist.
Thanks, this is great!
I added 802 and 803 suggestions to the reports. I also separated reports according to template and location.
Another Instant Error for the British Isle is the location "UK" before the Act of Union

Just to clarify, Aleš, will the Source-a-Thon tables include all profiles containing the Unsourced template or category, as well as all evaluated as 802 and 803? Or if 802/803 are eligible, should we plan to search for those separately?

And thanks for this!

I will add 802 and 803 to the lists. But i think most of them don't have a loction.

I believe you're correct; only a minority have locations. And I don't know that they need to or should be added to the report. That's for you and Source-a-Thon Leaders to decide. It may clutter the report by adding thousands to it that would frustrate Thon participants because those profiles don't contain usable dates or locations.

There's no update about it yet on the main Source-a-Thon Help page, but there was previous discussion here on G2G about 802s/803s being eligible. I've found that many 803s, in particular, have children that are on the unsourced list but that do contain dates and locations, and that give adequate information to then source the 802/803 parents.

If it's confirmed that 802s/803s count for the Source-a-Thon--meaning that eligibility for points isn't restricted to the Thon-specific lists you're creating, but do include those empty profiles--I think we're good. We probably just need the final verdict on that.

I don't think anyone would locate a BMD or census record that also names the parents without also adding the source citation to the parent's profiles, but we should probably structure it so that Thon participants are incetivized not to leave those poor parents stranded.  :-)

for the record, I am not a data doctor so I have not used these lists before.

I dont see any "status buttons" on these lists so how will our counting be updated?

Also these lists are not alphabetical - so how do they get divided up amongst the team members?

I had planned to give each of my team members 2 letters of the alphabet and each person would do the lists for their letters.

These long lists from Ales have no rhyme or reason to them. Sorry Ales, but wouldn't it help to have them in some kind of order or groups?

How did you avoid conflicts with more than one team member trying to work on the same profile at the same time?

Link for tracking is available after you save the profile.

They are ordered by birth date.

Each page can be worked from top and from bottom. And next two can work on second page and so on.
Thanks Ales

Thanks a lot Aleš, I'm sure you have put in a lot of work here! It will be a good way to find unsourced profiles to work on!

Thanks Aleš! I added the following along with the links for the VA, WV, & KY to Team Virginia. Is it correct information?

: Whether you source a profile you found through the table or a category page, when you save the profile, there will be a button for "Challenges Tracker" at the top of the page. Click that, complete the form (add your WikiTree ID if needed, check the appropriate challenge, and describe your action), then click the "Add" button & the profile will automatically be counted toward your total in the challenge you selected.

Thanks Ales,

I have seen previously the Unsourced profiles sorted into centuries, which is going to be really handy for the Pre-1500 team.

I realise I can go into the European countries list and then find pre-1500 profiles that way, but I notice that some European countries such as France or Germany aren't on that list, and I'm sure some members of the team would like to focus on those countries.  Are there any plans to add those countries?
by John Atkinson G2G6 Pilot (620k points)
As soon as someone asks for them. Until now no one did and there was no team covering other countries during CleanAThon. I don't make lists for all countries, since it would be a lot of them.
I'm definitely sure one member of the Musty Dusty Pre-1500 team wants to focus on French profiles so if you could add France please.

Having a German list could be handy, but otherwise I think most team members will focus on Great Britain/Scotland/Ireland, which are already there.

I added France and Germany to the lists. Also suggestion lists will be done for them.

I also extended the report to include 802 and 803 errors

Hi Aleš,

seems like you've already put a lot of work in those lists. Fantastic! I've just one small question. In the Netherlands a lot of the profiles are maybe unsourced but contains places of birth or death. And certain people like to concentrate on a certain province or for example on only Amsterdam. Is it possible to use Wiki+ to select the combination of place and unsourced or would those profiles not be counted if they are corrected?

by Margreet Beers G2G6 Pilot (152k points)
You can use WikiTree+

http://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=Unsourced+Amsterdam&MaxProfiles=500&SortOrder=Default&PageSize=10

As long as they have Unsourced on it, they will be counted.

Fantastic Aleš, because there is a lot of worries how to count / register the profiles that we source during the Source-a-Thon, but I assume you will rerun the reports to find out if the record is sourced. But how will we check who or what team has sourced the record? I don't see a status button and I'm not sure if you can see in the database, who changed the record.

After you save the profile, you get a link to count the contribution.
Okay great. I didn't understand that part of the prior conversation, but that's just my lack of understanding. If it will save us the manual work I'm quite impressed (and am professionally interested in the technology :-))

Aleš,

I have an additional question (or 2 to be precise ;-) ):

1) Is there a way to do a combined search on text AND profile manager

2) Is it possible to use a negative (excluding) search value in the text field of Wiki+. For instance select on text Netherland, Unsourced but excluding Amsterdam?

Manager search is separated, so it is not possible at the time.

I think I builtin OR operator to profile search. And is automatic, but I don't have NOT operator. However you can sort by location and simpli skip Amsterdam part in the table.

In the Canada table... would it be possible to have a separate line for {{Unsourced|Québec}}
by Guy Constantineau G2G6 Pilot (383k points)
Yes. I can make it in additional report.
Ah thanks.... would be very handy for the weekend :)
Thanks Ales

the link is red and since I am not a Leader since my year of absence, could someone open this new table for me.
It was just recalculated. Try refreshing the page
All works fine.... Thank you

So my team is focused on Acadian profiles, which are hard to define based on today's geographic bounds, so we are using the Acadians category to identify profiles and the Acadian Unsourced Profiles category for the Source-a-Thon.

Can a table help us in this case or should we stick to the category?

Thanks!
by Roland Arsenault G2G6 Mach 5 (58.9k points)
I don't think my table would help much.

Hi! Would it be possible to have such a table for Hungary? I could not find any. Can I generate one?

I can prepare one for you. It is a bit late, but i will.

Will this template work for 2018, or is it different?
by Stephanie Ward G2G6 Pilot (118k points)

No.

This tables are now also on all unsourced categories so they can be used from there..

{{Automated:DD_Unsourced_List_NZL}}

and here are all lists, that are created.
