Seth Story, Sr., had a wife named Elizabeth, whose dates are given as 1651-1736. No record seems to exist of her birth and the date is calculated from the information on her gravestone. Neither does there appear to be a surviving record of her marriage. She appears on WT as Elizabeth (Cross) Story, daughter of Robert Cross, Sr. and Anna Jordan.
I would like to detach her from these parents and have her LNAB changed to Unknown. (I'm not the PM for the profile, so changing her LNAB isn't something I can do.)
I haven't been able to determine where or when the identification of Seth Story, Sr.'s wife with a daughter of Robert Cross originated. It has, however, apparently been recognized as an error by some researchers for 30 years or more.
Robert Cross, Sr.'s daughter, Elizabeth (Cross) Nelson, was born in 1636, and married William Nelson before 1659. William Nelson was apparently still alive and active, in Ipswich, when Seth Story and his wife, this Elizabeth, were producing children there, so Seth Story can't be a second husband for Elizabeth (Cross) Nelson. (There is a brief discussion of this in Betty Andrews Storey, compiler, The Descendants of William Story and Sarah Foster of Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, Hales Corner, WI: self-published, 2004, pp. 6-7 - available for loan on Archive.)
Anderson (Great Migration 1634-1635, C-F, "Robert Cross," pp. 240-245, esp. 243-244 - on AmericanAncestors, by subscription...sorry) does not include this Elizabeth as one of Robert's children and none of Anderson's quotations from contemporary documents includes even a suggestion of her among his children.
Is anyone aware of more recent scholarship on the identity of Seth Story's wife?
Can she be detached from Robert Cross and her LNAB changed to Unknown?
Update edit 5 Oct 2017: Since no objections have been raised, Elizabeth (Cross) Story has been detached from Robert Cross and Anna Jordan as parents (thank you, Anne!). Changing her LNAB to Unknown is in process via a pending merge.
