Question

How do I find all the orphaned profiles my cousin used to manage that is no longer active?  The manager of her former profile is now; "WikiTree Closed Accounts". I have picked up as many profiles orphaned by my cousin's removal from WikiTree that were obvious, but there are surely more as she had names married into the family that I have never had access to. So far I have adopted over a hundred of her orphaned profiles, but I do not want miss adopting any of our common ancestors and descendants that I do not recognize.  Given the above, how can I make sure I pick up all of them? Go to your Contributions page, and change your WikiTree-ID for hers.

Yes, that's the best idea! Her contributions list will show all the profiles she worked on. You need to find her WikiTree ID and insert it in place of "LNAB-1234" in this URL: https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&who=LNAB-1234

Hi Stephen and Welcome

What an admirable idea to look for and take on those profiles.

Maybe if you continue to build your own tree up to where it joins the common ancestors you have with your cousin you will hook in to others that are orphaned. Hopefully they were not unlinked from their families, so that might help you find names that you wouldn't recognize.

Since you have already located some, try looking at the Family Tree for those individuals. You can go to other profiles from someones family tree and see the related (children, spouses, parents) profiles.

Thanks Kristina Adams for the tip. I had not though about the method you suggested. I was thinking that I was missing something in the new beta that would allow me to search for all the profiles orphaned by my cousin's old WikiTree profile ID Number. Tat would have been so easy. Maybe the techs will add that ability in the future. :-) All the best, Steve

Hi, Stephen,

Go to the Wiki-ID drop-down menu at the top right of the page and select orphaned family, all of the orphaned family profiles will be highlighted.

Also, it might be best to remove your cousin's ID and the reason for closing her account from your question. We don't really need to know who or why in order to answer the question. :)

I do hope you find them all!

If your profiles were connected to her tree you should be able to find them from your profile page using that menu.

Hi, Deb Durham... I took your advice and edited my question removing the content you mentioned. I am used to physical conference rooms and websites that are not as concerned about privacy, and extremely polite manners, and will do everything short of physically wrestling each other to the floor debating issues until agreement is reached. Then every one that just about murdered each other, happily goes out to lunch together and fights again over who will have the honor of picking up the check. :-) The honor code of WikiTree I fully agree with, but at age 65, with so much of the "other way" under by belt, I simply do not see the more fine nuances of manners used here, and sometimes I blunder. Sorry! I will learn to spot the little infractions before I step on them. Thanks, Steve
