I am seeking those who have the Rogers surname attached to Brady and Prichard and Hodson. The time around the 1750's to 1850's in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and possibly Ohio.

My maternal grandfather descends through David Pritchard and Catherine Sharp both born about 1800 in Claiborne Co. TN. Their daughter, (according to the book Know Your Relatives: The Sharps ) Sarah married an E.V. Rogers June 12, 1853. The daughter of Sarah and E.V. Rogers, Anne married a man named E.R. Carter. Many in the Pritchard/Sharp family settled in MO in 1830's and I suspect possibly some may have lived in Ohio and others further south. Many descendants of David's son Laban Pri(t)chard settled in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma (I have yet to identify many of them).

I also share DNA with people with the surname Rogers who also share the surname Brady with me. My Brady matches (paternal great-grandmother) link to many is Hugh Brady b. 1709 IR settled in Cumberland, Pennsylvania in 1730's.

My maternal 5th great grandmother was Elizabeth Rogers b. about 1753 (location unknown-- suspect Wales (according to family lore).

GEDmatch shows my parents are not related.

I am looking for people who share these surname combinations in their lines to see if I can match DNA with any of them to determine if the Rogers surname can possibly be from one source.

Basically, I have loads of Rogers in my searches and I am trying to sort them. Any advice greatly appreciated.

1880 US Census living in Jacksonville, Morgan, Illinois age 49 born about 1831 Tennessee.  Wife name of Sarah also age 49.  Parents of both E V and Sarah born in Tennessee.   Daughter Ann E Carter age 21 born in Kansas and husband Emerson Carter age 23 born Illinois are living with them.  John Rodgers son of E. V. and Sarah age 18 born in Missouri.  E. V. Emerson and John all listed as a farmer.

There were 463 Rogers or Rodgers born in TN in 1880 census none listed as Claiborne County which is in the Eastern Division of the State.

Following Carter  1900  E R Carter age 43 and wife Annie married 1880 mistake on census perhaps?  Annie listed as married for 20 years age 21 should be 41?  Birth date for E R is May 1857 for Annie is Dec 1858.  It shows 2 children  both sons.  Clarence 19 born Feb  1881and Fred age 11  born May 1889 both listed as born in Illinois and at school.  Census was taken Jacksonville, Morgan, Illinois.

Laura, Thanks so much. Can you believe I am only now finding these posts! I don't know if I hadn't yet figured out tagging or following but goodness me! I will get there---eventually!

Yes you can add tags to your profile that you want to follow.  Surnames, projects, up to 20 things like that.  Go to the top of the screen here and select ADD then Followed Tags.   If you want to follow a particular question in G2G you can click on the + at the top of the question  just to the right of first line in the heading.  This will then put it into your My Feed option on the G2G menu bar.
