Unique Name or Spelling

I recently entered several profiles with unique names (Hawaiian names) and now have a raft of suggestions. I know that all I need to do is go to each suggestion, mark it as false, and then indicate why it is false and then go do it on the rest.

Is there not an easier way, maybe unique name could pop up like ʻdied before birthdateʻ or that sort of thing. Besides making it easier for folks entering real Unique Names, it might catch some spelling errors, too.

I don't think a unique name is quite as important to fix immediately as a mistake in dates.  Now I like the warning about no gender as it happens fairly often.  But a rare name search would take a lot of computer time compared to the suggestions where there's only one search a week. And lots of times some research is needed to figure out if a name is really unique or just misspelled and if you have to go do it while you're creating a profile there will be a tendency to hide it under the bed and maybe it will never be looked at again.  While if it later shows up on suggestions list, you can choose when you want to go looking to see if you have a source which justifies the odd spelling or it was just a typist's error.

I see your point. But still, in this case with Hawaiian names I know they will show up as suggestions I need to deal with and would be happy to check a box somewhere that says " I know Ono Poke Nui is not common, but I did spell it correctly" as I am setting up the profile.

Actually, I have  profiles with first names ʻBishopʻ and an ʻOthnell" that show up, too. I guess the frustration is that I had a nice almost clean Suggestion list until i added the unique names.

I enter some funny nicknames from Olden Sweden now and then - like Konstgumman or Kedjebo-Lasse - so I recognize the frustration of having to wait for up towards a week before I get the opportunity to mark them as false errors. I do like my Suggestions List clean.

But I think Dave is right, that the cost of including name statistics in the checks for profile creation would be too high.
