I need help. I want to call customer service. I can't locate the number please help.

Question

I'm new i need help setting up my account. Is their a pbone number i can call to maybe have someone walk me through the set up?

Welcome to WikiTree! Lucy pretty much covered what you need to do next, I'm just here to advise you to remove your phone number from your question. This is a public forum that anyone can access.

I strongly advise you to remove your personal phone number from your entry.  It is of no value because this is all done by volunteers on the computer   (I see Deb put the same request in just ahead of me while I was typing this)

Laurie, you still have to complete your registration to become a member of WikiTree. The first thing you need to do is create research tags indicating surnames and/or locations that you are researching. Click here for more information about Tags. Then you will see on your profile page a bar that says "add tags and volunteer." When you click that bar one of our Greeters will see that you have volunteered and will confirm you as a Family Member. You may then begin to add your family tree. If you wish to become a full member of WikiTree and receive your Genealogist badge, then you need to sign the Honor code.

There are mentors to help walk you through the process. It looks as though you have a guest membership at the moment. I believe the next step would be to sign the honor code and then volunteer. There is a link on your profile page. Just click on your name in the above question and it will take you to your profile page. There you should be able to find the link to volunteer. Here is more information from the help menu at the top of every page. Take deep breaths, we were all new at least once.

Also worth mentioning that since Wikitree is a free collaborative site rather than a company offering a subscription service, there is no customer service number. Users help each other to learn the process.

Lucy, just a note for future reference. Signing the Honor Code is the last step in becoming a member, not the first. The first step is to create research tags and Volunteer. Then once they have been confirmed as a Family Member they may sign the Honor Code.

After creating a Guest Membership you'll want to read our Honor Code. This Honor Code is a promise that members make to each other. It's the foundation of our community.

If you agree with the Honor Code, we would love to have your help growing The Free Family Tree as a Wiki Genealogist. The next step after registering as a Guest Member is to volunteer to help grow the tree.

After you volunteer your account will be confirmed by one of our Greeters and you'll be invited to officially sign the Honor Code.

I just re-read the link you provided and I think it provides accurate informaton for becoming a full member. Nearly the last line on that page reads: 

"A Guest Member can become a Wiki Genealogist if they volunteer to help grow The Free Family Tree and a current Wiki Genealogist (usually a Greeter) confirms them. This gives them a Family Member account which is then converted to a Wiki Genealogist account as soon as they sign the Honor Code."
