How do I add the Y DNA test.

You should be able to edit your DNA tests page to add the FTDNA test:

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:DNATests&u=11071057

You will not enter the actual test markers, just information about the test.  You may also want to join https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/wiki-tree/about and the Vickery DNA Project (https://www.familytreedna.com/public/vicary) if you haven't already joined.

Hi John, see the DNA project page...

That page and the other Help pages for DNA do not help with that.  Please see Connecting DNA Test Results to WikiTree Profiles.

OK, so I go to the Matches page, and there isn't a button anywhere to do
that upload you require. There is only a button to download a CSV.
Hi, Henry. WikiTree doesn't require an upload. In fact, there isn't even a way to upload your DNA results or DNA match list. Can you tell us a bit more about what you're trying to do and what page you're looking at? If you're at your Family Tree DNA yDNA matches pages, there's nothing there that WikiTree needs. It only accepts, entered from your own profile page, the type of yDNA test you took at FTDNA, your kit number, and your tested or predicted yDNA haplogroup (e.g., something like R-M269).

I was actually responding to a complex set of instructions to upload to a third party site and then it would show up in wikitree ... obviously you are not seeing that in the thread.

Nevertheless, I cannot find any way to do what you suggest from my profile page.
My autosomal kit is there, and I cannot find an option to insert (if that is the term) a second kit. Everything I have tried from there does not work.

Thanks, Henry. This particular question/thread is from last September and is about Y-chromosome results from tests taken at Family Tree DNA. So I may have been misinterpreting what you wrote.

Your WikiTree profile indicates that you've added a GEDmatch ID number to your autosomal test results from MyHeritage. Is that what your note was about, getting your raw data from MyHeritage and setting up that  GEDmatch account? If so, is everything okay now?
No, not OK.  The autosomal kit is there in my DNA Page on Wikitree and has been since February and there is not now, nor has there ever been a problem with the MyHeritage autosomal kit.

Now I separate from that, and it is the NEW Y-DNA kit from ftDNA that I am unable to add in my profile.
Howdy Henry, I'm sorry, I haven't updated those instructions for all of the changes caused by the GDPR.  Both Ysearch and Mitosearch were discontinued by FTDNA after the GDPR went into effect, so there's no reason to go to the Matches page any more.  I'll have to look at what the current state is, and revise the instructions.  I apologize for the confusion.
Henry, To add information about your new yDNA test to WikiTree, from the 'Add' drop-down list at the top of your profile, select 'DNA Test Information'. That will take you to the page where you've already entered your MyHeritage test information. Further down the page you'll see an area where you can 'Add New Test Information'. Select Family Tree DNA yDNA. Once you enter the information about your yDNA test (haplogroup, # of markers, and kit #) be sure to click on the 'Add test for Henry Hamm' button at the bottom of the page.

It is not accepting the Haplogroup. The yellow banner across the top says, "The Haplogroup can only contact letters, numbers, asterisks, periods, and dashes."

I entered it first as "R-M269" and when that didn't work I tried just "M269", and that didin't work either.

I click "Add Test for Henry Hamm" and it won't go, just gives me that yellow banner.

The Haplogroup can only contact letters, numbers, asterisks, periods, and dashes.

I'm not sure what to say. I just tried entering R-M269 for a male relative for a yDNA test, and did not have the same problem. Are you entering it with the quotation marks? That would cause a problem. Try it without the quotation marks.

No, there are nothing like quotation marks or anything else; just the info requested.
Here is what I have entered:

Add this test for Henry Hamm: Family Tree DNA  y-DNA

Y-chromosome haplogroup:  R-M269

Number of markers that were tested:  37

Family Tree DNA kit number:  IN34454

What is wrong?

The only other thing I can think of is trying to enter the information using a different browser. I'm not sure what difference that would make, but I can't think of anything else.
I deleted the Haplogroup ID, and this time I copied and pasted it in. Unbelievable ... it actually went through.

Thanks for your help; very much appreciate your patience.

Cheers.
You're welcome! I'm so glad to know that you figured it out!

And thanks, Henry, for calling attention to the Ysearch/Mitosearch issue on that particular page that Rob so well crafted. Yep, both those sites went permanently dark on May 24, completely out of the control or influence of WikiTree. Thanks, Rob, for offering to go back and revise that page of instructions. There is also an effort underway, post-GDPR, in the WikiTree DNA Project to revise the help pages...and that will mean finding and removing all references to Ysearch and Mitosearch, among many other things.

On a somewhat related note and for general information only, there are a number of links here on G2G, in profiles, and in Freespace research pages to yDNA surname projects that were hosted at WorldFamilies.net. It, too, decided it couldn't comply with the GDPR and shut down the evening of May 24. Over 700 surname DNA projects were hosted there; some have been adopted by experienced DNA project managers and are now active at FTDNA. The WorldFamilies.net domain name still exists, but following any of the previous links to surname projects there will result in a "Page Not Found" error. If that happens, my best advice would be to go to the FTDNA projects portal page, https://www.familytreedna.com/projects.aspx, and see if the surname DNA project you were looking for has an active page there.

That page has now been revised (removed MitoSearch and ySearch, and made changes for GDPR and WikiTree policies).
