There are some Caudills from my line in the Letcher County, Kentucky, Lee and Wise County, Virginia -- I think most of those are by marriage. Both of my maternal grandparents are from that area. We believe the melungeon came through from my direct Collins and Gabbard lines from that area. I'm still digging on into the melungeon possibilities and only really became familiar with it over the last year or so.

Have you tried searching for the Surnames?  I find that is really useful when  trying to find families. When you find a profile for someone in the location you expect your ancestors to have been, go to the profile and message the profile manager, that could open up a dialogue and find some cousins!

Use the ʻFindʻ drop down menu, select ʻSurnameʻ and follow the instructions. You should get a list (maybe a long one) which you can sort by first name or date.
