Would someone please assist me in finding appropriate sources for this gentleman? I have history books and stories, but I cannot find concrete sources. I also have found pension applications for several men that served under Captain John Benton in SC, but no record of HIM. (John L. Benton is not the same person). I have even found letters in the Ga vault referencing Representative John Benton, but he isn't listed anywhere. I'd like to get him categorized accordingly. Any assistance very much appreciated!
