Am I related to Margret Lawson living in 1827 with the Robertson's of Tobago Road, Glasgow?

Question

Trying to trace my grandfather, John Spears, who carried this letter and said it was important.  Letter is from Alexander Lawson to his wife Margret care of the Robertsons of Tobago Rd, Carlton, Glasgow.  Dated 1827.

I assume it was to serve as a letter of introduction and that it was given to him by a relative of Margret Lawson.  She came to NYC later with her children, but I can't trace them any further.  Her brother also came to NYC but earlier and headed north.

I have no other information on why this letter was important to my grandfater but I am looking as it may be an indirect way to find out about him.  He was born in 1851 near Glasgow.  That is all we know about him.

  If you go to Scottishpeople (the URL is http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and then join the site (it's free to join and search) then search the Old Parish Records using the information you gave here. If you search between the years 1848 & 1851 you will find there are only 2 John Spears registered as being born in the whole of Scotland. It costs to view and download the search results (total cost per certificate/document is about £1.40 and you keep the images.

This should help your search. You could also earch the census records there and see if John Spears ever tayed at the same address as the Lawsons.

not sure if i can help, John spears was in our family still trying to figure out if he was a brother  or dad to prince henry spears born nov 6 1906, at least that is when they decided to record his birth,  he grew up in Marion Co, Tennessee his mother was Rosa beky Morrision, last married name was Rosa Becky Spears, her mothers name was Nancy at least that was  a name she used.

I don't know if this helps or not but I have Robertson on my dad's mum's side of the family. His last name is Lawson..His fathers name was Edward Lawson. Last resided in Aberdeen.
