The gravestone, which I've seen in person (photos available), does NOT name a spouse. A recently added plaque in front of the tombstone named Magdalena RUDMAN as the spouse, and that is in error. Magdalena Rudman is well documented as the wife of Andrew Robeson III, son of Andrew Robeson, Jr., and Maria Helm. Noted genealogist of the Swedes in America Dr. Peter Stebbins Craig names Maria Helm as Andrew's spouse. Andrew and Maria's second son was named Israel, after Maria's father, Israel Akkeson Helm.

Mr. Charles Baker is quite correct,  I have been to the grave of Andrew Robeson D 1720 and have photos, his wife was Maria Helm, daughter of Israel Helm (I have copy of the will).  She is buried in Old Sweds Church in Philadelphia,  I have photos and would send them if necessary.

Permit me to jump into this conversation --

I think where the great confusion lies is the adding of Sr. Jr. and III to the names of Andrew Robeson.  Since joining this group this is the first time I have ever seen it used.

I came across some excellent books:  I will cite one

Colonial Records of the Swedish Churches in Pennsylvania  Vol 3

on page 110 it states "His daughter Magdalen (Rudman) married Andrew Robeson, Jr. at Gloria Dei Church on 21 August 1718."

I would love to have a copy of the will you mentioned regarding the Andrew Robeson who was married to Maria Helm, daughter of Israel Helm.  Andrew, who died in 1720 (modern date standard) is my 6th gr.grandfather.  Please email best copy possible to farris@writeme.com.

There has been a great deal of confusion and I am very carefully documenting the Robeson family and its origins.  Very few people know that his Uncle Andrew was a religious prisoner and Quaker in Scotland.
