What do you think of Pacy as the nickname for Patience? [closed]

I am trying to find a marriage record for Patience Ann Carter and Joseph Stanford.  (Might be James Joseph Stanford, depends on name Pacy).  I have come across a marriage, handwritten and legal, record of Pacy marrying a James Joseph Stanford.  Dates are consistent with what is needed. Pacy Ann is also what is stated on the record. No records with the name Patience.  Have ruled plain old Ann out, so far, when looking.  I can see Pacy being a nickname, but you know, sometimes 2 heads, or 100, are better than 1.  Thanks.

Sounds reasonable.

My great grandmother's nickname was Plum. Her name was Mary Ann Catherine. I have no idea where Plum came from.

My daughter's nickname is JoJo, because her older sister couldn't say her actual name when they were little.

Often, nicknames (or preferred names) get used on official documents, because its what they themselves... preferred.

My brother is called "Bubba", because I could not say brother when I was little.  (We are 16 months apart and he is younger).  We call my aunt, "Aunt Pete".  :)  Her name is Lucille.  :)  Oh, and my sister, her name is Elizabeth LuDeanne (LooDeen), after three of my aunts, LuDeanne being a combo of 2 of them.  I call my sister "Ludes" and my brothers call her "Lizzytish".  Because my name, Betty, is a derivative of Elizabeth, I had to prove I had a sister named Elizabeth when I joined the Air Force.

Nicknames can be fun.  I think Pacy is probably her nickname.  It feels and sounds like it could be.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!  I appreciate it.

P.S.  I like the nickname "Plum".  ;)
I always wanted a nickname (other than Dennis the Menace), but could never think of one (they are usually assigned by others, anyway). My last year in college, I was studying Spanish in Mexico, and my teacher called me Dionisio... the local kids started calling me Nicho. I liked that nickname :)
I like Nicho too!  Does anyone call you that now, did it spill over to your family?  Being a "Betty", named that, not Elizabeth.  I have been called Betty Boop, the most popular.  My initials are BJ, for Betty Jo, so have been called BJ.  Called Jo too.  My most interesting?  Bad Betty.  An Air Force nickname I acquired while stationed at Hansom Air Base, outside Boston. Guess I was a terror. LOL Bad Betty was shortened to BB over time.  Air Force friends still call me that.
yeah, not so much. It was mostly when I was around Spanish speaking people, which is not very often these days.

All three of my daughters worked at Home Depot, and at times overlapped with each other. The first one, they called her "Wheels", so by the time the 3rd one started, they called her "training Wheels". I don't think she liked it much :)

Thanks, Frank! Dang, you did your magic again!  I have GOT to remember that trick.

I have Patience Ann on the profile and an 1860census showing her and Joseph in the same household. (I need to upload and source it)  Was just looking for a marriage record.  Only came across those for Pacy and James Joseph, wondering it if is a nickname. I think it might be!

It may not be magic but it may be that familysearch.org and internet searches can be good resources:

With so many other places translating to first names, why not this major Japanese city ... May rise, along with other spiritually inclined names, but Americans might find it too close to Osama. ... Paci, Pacie,Pacy. PACIENCIA. Spanish, "patience.

I consider it magic.  :)  Thank you for the link. I am going to look.  I see Pacy is there!  Nice.  I know a lot of places have first names as their name, but have never really thought of it before.  I guess I had a tendency to be a reminder of their surroundings.   I lived in El Cajon, California. Spanish for "the box".  El Cajon is surrounded by hills.  I live in Deaver, but it is the last name of a person.  Names are interesting.
