Ancestry of Margaret Wyatt - chart by Charles Knowles Bolton

+9 votes

Charles Knowles Bolton published a family tree for Margaret Wyatt (a known gateway ancestor to the British royalty and aristocracy) in 1898. This chart shows her ancestry from the early Norman kings of England, and numerous members of the British aristocracy. This is a chart only, without sources identified. This is used as a source on Margaret Wyatt’s profile.

Has anyone an opinion on the veracity or usefulness of this chart? Has anyone found errors in it?

Does it match Richardson?
I think as with any unsourced material, you take it with a grain of salt, use it as a guideline and verify the information. It's not actually used as a source on Margaret's profile, it's just listed as a source. The copy provided at Archive is extremely hard to read.
I don't know if it matches Richardson's work. Unfortunately, according to Worldcat the closest library to me that has a copy is the FHL in Salt Lake which is over 500 miles away. The series is available in the used book market, but it is somewhat expensive.
Without going through it, it likely contains errors.  You would have to go through each generation to look for errors to find out.  My general impression is you cannot trust a 19th century, unsourced outline chart.

All of these families have modern genealogical studies and sources.  I would not use this chart as a source and would actually remove it from the profile in favor of more modern sources.
Bolton wrote/complied a number of genealogies and genealogical sources, as well as other works. How is his research regarded?
