Betsy (Murphy) Carter m. John Carter Bristol, Lincoln, Maine

Question

I have a death certificate for Mary Jane Fossett d.1895 Bristol, Maine b. 1814 Bristol, Maine.  Parents listed as John and Betsy (Murphy) Carter both born in Bristol, Maine. I believe it may be the same John and Betsy Carter who have sons Erastus and Enoch Carter.  However, Erastus and Enoch mother Betsy is Betsy Richards, not Murphy.  They are in very close proximity in living close to one another in Bristol leads me to belived they are all related (brothers and sisters), but the whole Murphy thing is throwing me off.  Any help please!

My post have been up for about 5 years, and I still cannot find an answer, even after all the research I have done.  I think I have reached a real dead end, unless somebody else has some ideas.
