Another thing about the <ref> ?

Another thing about the <ref> vs == SOURCE == this old woman has some friends I have  TRIED to talk into using wikitree instead of ancestry.com,,  which I feel is a ton more SOURCED... not just  family tree lore... and their comments,  "do not understand it"  so why not make our beautiful  family WORLD WIDE  TREE  easier to understand/actually  use,   than harder?  Love you guys... Hi Carole,

There is no reason they can't just enter the == Sources == without the inline code.  I do it all the time to add census records, FindAGrave and other data sources.  I don't particularly enjoy writing bios because I am usually adding sources to non-family members that I don't know.  I do add == Sources ==, however, because they are required by the Honor Code.

It is pretty easy to add an inline if you want.  In the bio section, click the little C for Citation button and paste your citation between the inserted codes.  It really couldn't be easier.  Just make sure the Sources section has the <references/> line:

== Sources ==
<references />

Just copy and paste it from the right side of the screen under the Biography section.  The inline sources will appear above the <references/> and any other sources should go below the <references/>.

Thanks Kitty, I learned something new there. I was not aware of the Citation button. Certainly saves some typing.
Yeah, I really like that C for citation button!  I use FamilySearch.org a lot and it works great with those sources.  FamilySearch.org has a "Cite this record" citation on each page.  I copy the whole citation, click the littler C button and paste the citation between the codes.  Works really well.
I love that citation button, because then I don't forget to add the end ref </ref>

Carole - I agree with you that WT is getting more complicated to use.  This old hen just wants to record family history.  This is a hobby for me.  I want it to be fun.  If I want to get into computer sciences I will join my grandson in university.
