Shared Photo: Gertrude Becker Zingery at TB Sanitorium

+9 votes

My grandmother died long before I was born.  Dad told me he remembers visiting his mother in the TB Sanitarium and was mortified and scared to see all the women walking around spitting into their silver cups.  He did not really understand at the time what she was going through.  He never really got to know her and was young (9) when she died and did not believe me when I told him my research uncovered that Gertrude was Jewish.  Her parents were married by a rabbi in NYC.  Would love to find my Becker 'cousins.'  Also interested in learning about Dr. Farmer's Sanitarium where I believe she was treated and where I know she died.

I wanted to share this family photo of Gertrude Zingery with the community. Location: Bexar, Texas. Date: 1930.
