is sarah ' sallie ' brock and sallie caudill the same person? [closed]

Question

sallie caudill married William hall in perry ky. on their childrens marriage and death records and census she is listed as sallie caudill. I cam eacross a few things that people said sarah brock went by the nickname sallie caudill. how to find any evidence of this and why would she go from brock to caudill?

Sallie may have had two marriages.  Born Caudille .Married Mr Brock first then Mr Hall.

Or born Brock, married Hall and Caudille

I would be very wary of this. When people can't find what they need to make their tree "work" for them, they sometimes resort to "borrowing" ancestors and then supplying whatever explanation fits their purpose.

If it isn't documented in some fashion, I would ignore it as unsubstantiated "lore." Put the info in a research notes section of the biography. It might be worth exploring if there is some indication that it could be correct beyond someone "saying" it.

And this may be where someone came up with the name Sally Brock. There is a major problem here, not that some people care about dates and such when grabbing any "proof" for their theories (not talking about you, Eddie lol), but in the 1900 census for William, Sallie, and their numerous children they had been married for 18 years. In 1910 the number of years married is 29. 

I have added a number of source records to the profiles of William Hall and Sallie Caudill. Hopefully, that will help sort the wheat from the chaff.
