Goldie I Janes is I think my great grandmother on my Father's side.
My dad Theodore L Moore son of
Ella Dorothy (More) Moore daughter of
Carl F More and Goldie I Janes

I am having trouble finding a birth certificate for
Ella Dorothy More sometimes goes by Dorothy Ella
I saw listed on a marriage license her DOB of Jan 5th I think 1910..
 

I would like to find copies of BIRTH CERTIFICATES

Hi, Toni,

As much as you want to believe that this is true, there is absolutely no evidence supporting it.

Look at the census records. Census takers are instructed to record the race of an individual. I will provide a link to the instructions for the 1900 census takers. Had Goldie or her parents been Cherokee they would have been recorded as Indian. They are recorded as white in all census records. Even if they had been misrecorded in one census they wouldn't have been in all of them. The only conclusion is that they were not Native American, especially not 100% Native American.

Eddie has kindly provided several records where Goldie's race is recorded. It is very clear that she was not Native American. Sorry.

I have a similar situation with my husband's great-grandmother. They were always told she was half Cherokee. I was skeptical but tried to pursue the possibility with an open mind. Then I saw a photo of her. She was listed in records as white. She didn't look as if she was 50% Native American. So, while there is still the possibility that she had a Native American grandparent or great-grandparent, I am not holding my breath and I am convinced she didn't have a 100% Native American parent.
